Minoritet


Minoritet tyder mindre del, og viser primært til ei folkegruppe som utgjer eit mindretal i eit samfunn.


Minoritet kan òg referere til underordna eller marginale grupper. Desse gruppene treng ikkje nødvendigvis å vere talmessig i mindretal, men dei står i eit assymetrisk tilhøve til majoriteten gjennom språk, utdanning, religion, kultur, seksuell orientering og så bortetter.


I Noreg har desse gruppene offisiell status som nasjonale minoritetar: jødar, kvenar, romfolk, romani og skogfinnar.
