Bottenhavet (finsk: Selkämeri) er havområdet mellom Sverige i vest og Finland i aust, Bottenvika i nord og resten av Austersjøen i sør. Norra kvarken dannar grense i nord mot Bottenvika, medan Åland dannar den sørlege grensa.


Bottenhavet har ei utstrekning på 350 km i nord-sør-retninga, er 230 km på det breiaste og har eit areal på 66 000 km². Største djup er 293 m, middeldjupet er 68 m og volumet 4 340 km³.


Dei største kystbyane er Raumo og Björneborg i Finland og Gävle og Sundsvall i Sverige. Umeå i Sverige og Vasa i Finland ligg heilt i nord, nær Bottenvika.
