Jorsala

Jorsala (genitiv av Jorsalir) var det norrøne namnet på Jerusalem.[1] I norske omsetjingar av dei norrøne kongesogene kan ein bruka omgrepa Jorsalaborg om byen, og Jorsalaland eller Jorsalaheim om området.[2]


Ordet har gjeve tilnamnet «Jorsalfare» for ein person som hadde vore i Jerusalem på valfart eller krosstog, som kong Sigurd Jorsalfare.[1]
