Shackletonkjeda[1] er ei fjellkjede i Antarktis. Ho stig opp til Holmes Summit på 1875 moh og strekkjer seg 160 km frå aust til vest mellom Slessor- og Recoverybreen.[2]


Fjellkjeda er kalla opp etter sir Ernest Shackleton, leiaren for den britiske Endurance-ekspedisjonen (eller «Shackleton-ekspedisjonen») 1914-16.[2]



Landmålingar |


Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (CTAE), som i 1956 såg fjellkjeda frå lufta, gjorde ei landmåling av den vestlege delen i 1957. US Navy fotografert fjellkjeda frå lufta i 1967. I 1968–69 og 1969–70 gjorde British Antarctic Survey (med base på Halley Station) ytterlegare landmålingar med støtte frå eit C-130 Hercules-fly frå US Navy.[2]
