Hypotese


Hypotese (utt. hypotˈese) er ein uprova, men sannsynleg teori el. påstand basert på observasjon. Ein kan granske hypotesen gjennom eksperiment, med føremål å undersøke om ein kan godta han eller ikkje. Slik kan ein hypotese anten bli forsterka, og vidare kunne bli ein fungerande teori, eller bli svekka og avkrefta, og gi rom for nye hypotesar.


Førestavinga hypo-, under, tyder at påstanden er mellombels, t.d. arbeidshypotese eller forskingshypotese.
