Winter Island er ei øy 0,5 nautiske mil (0,9 km) lang og som ligg 0,1 nautiske mil (0,2 km) nord for Skua Island i Argentine Islands i Wilhelm Archipelago. Winter Island vart namngjeven av British Graham Land Expedition (BGLE), 1934–37, som gjorde denne øya til vinterbasen sin i 1935.


Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey oppretta ein base på Winter Island i 1947, Base F (Argentine Islands).[1] Hovudhytta vart bygd på staden til den gamle BGLE-hytta, og fekk namnet «Wordie House» etter sir James Wordie, medlem av Shackleton sin Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition som vitja hytta under bygginga.[2]


Basen vart flytta til den nærliggande IÎles Galindez i mai 1954, og kalla Faraday Station i 1977.


Wordie House har vorte bygd opp att og er i dag eit historisk minnesmerke.[3]
