Opawa er ein indre forstad i Christchurch på New Zealand, han ligg 2,5 kilometres søraust for bysentrum.


Namnet er ei samandraging av Opaawaho, som tyder ein stad til, eller staden til ('o') ein framskoten pā eller utpost ('paawaho') på maorispråket. Opaawaho eller Ōpāwaho er maorinamnet på Heathcote River.[2]
