Melvyn Desmond «Mel» Collins (fødd 5. september 1947) er ein britisk saksofonist, fløytist og studiomusikar.

Han har arbeidd innan mange forskjellige sjangrar frå R&B og bluesrock til jazz, men er kanskje mest kjend for arbeidet sitt i progressiv rock, som med King Crimson, Camel og Alan Parsons Project.

Karriere |

Collins har arbeidd med mange kjende artistar,^[1] som 10cc, Alexis Korner, Clannad, Eric Clapton, Bad Company, Dire Straits, Bryan Ferry, Roger Chapman, Marianne Faithfull, The Rolling Stones, Roger Waters^[2]Gerry Rafferty, Tears For Fears og Go West.

Han var medlem av banda King Crimson, Camel, Caravan og The Alan Parsons Project. For King Crimson tok han over etter Ian McDonald og spelte på albuma In the Wake of Poseidon, Lizard og Islands, og var studiomusikar på Red.

Collins spelte saksofonsoloen på The Rolling Stones-hiten «Miss You» i 1978,^[3] og spelte med Dire Straits på konsertalbumet deira Alchemy. Han var ein av medlemmane i Kokomo. Frå 2002 til 2007 spelte Collins som medlem av 21st century Schizoid Band i lag med andre tidlegare King Crimson-medlemmar.
