Kalebass


Kalebass (frå spansk, kanskje opphavleg persisk) er namnet på det hole og tørka fruktskalet frå det tropiske kalebasstreet (Crescentia cujete) i trompettrefamilien Bignoniaceae, som ein finn i Sør-Amerika. Ordet vert også brukt om drikkekar, skåler, flasker, øskjer og anna handverk som er laga av dette skalet.


I andre område brukar ein også fruktskal av artar i graskarfamilien (Cucurbitaceae), som til dømes flaskegraskar, (Lagenaria siceraria) til slikt handverk.
