Langesund er eit tettbygd strøk i Bamble kommune i Telemark fylke. Langesund ligg heilt ytst ved grensa til ytre Oslofjord og Skagerrak ved innseglinga til Frierfjorden. Byen ligg ved Langesundet, innom Langøya.


Byen ligg på ei halvøy og har kring 5500 innbyggjarar [treng kjelde]. Langesund er ein sommarby, som yrer av folkeliv frå mai til august. Langesund er den kystbyen i Noreg med flest soldagar i året [treng kjelde].


Kulturlivet blomstrar i Langesund kvar sommar; konsertar og festivalar pregar bybiletet. Det blir mellom anna arrangert fiskefestival og shantyfestival. Bob Dylan og a-ha spelte der i 2001. Også andre store artistar som Little Richard, B.B. King, Turboneger, Elton John og har spelt i Langesund.


Langesund vart ladestad på 1500-talet og har lange maritime tradisjonar og var tidleg ein av Noregs viktigaste byar innan skipsfart. Det finst også ei avansert teknologibedrift, Skarpenord AS i byen.
