John Rymill på Commons

John Riddoch Rymill (13. mars 1905–7. september 1968) var ein australsk polfarar, som fekk den sjeldne polarmedaljen med to haker.


Rymill førebudde seg på polreisene med fjellklatring i Europa og tok flytimar ved de Havilland Aircraft Co. Ltd, Hendon og kurs ved Scott Polar Research Institute ved Cambridge, under professor Frank Debenham. I 1931 vart han utpeikt til British Arctic Air Route Expedition til Grønland (1930–31) som landmålar og pilot. Som følgje av dette sette Rymill i gang ein ekspedisjon til det sørlege Graham Land og Weddellhavet i Antarktis. Ekspedisjonen hans, British Graham Land Expedition (1934–37)[1], oppdaga eit sørleg, permanent isdekt sund, seinare kalla George VI Sound, som strekte seg til Bellingshausenhavet.[2]
