Greewich Village, gatebilete.


Greenwich Village, på folkemunne kjend som the Village, er eit område av Manhattan i New York. Området grensar mot Broadway i aust, Hudsonelva i vest, Houston Street i sør og 14th Street i nord. Greenwich Village er eit utprega bustadstrøk, med mange kafear, restaurantar og mindre forretningar som dominerer gatebiletet, og bydelen er kjend for sin bohemkultur. Washington Square Park, med den berømte Washington Square Arch ligg i Greenwich Village, i likheit med New York University.


Greenwich Village var i utgangspunktet ein eigen by, grunnlagd på 1630-talet av nederlendarar under namnet Noortwyck. Då engelskmennene seinare erobra New York, fekk området sitt noverande namn.
