Rothschild Island er ei hovudsakleg isdekt øy omgjeve av dei toppane i Desko Mountains, 8 km vest for nordenden av Aleksanderøya nord i innløpet til Wilkins Sound.


Øya vart sett frå avstand av Den franske antarktisekspedisjonen, 1908-1910, og vart namngjeven av Charcot etter Baron Edouard de Rothschild (1868-1949), bankmann og leiar i de Rothschild Frères. Etter vidare utforsking av British Graham Land Expedition (BGLE), 1934-1937, trudde ein at øya var eit fjell knytt til Aleksanderøya, men det vart stadfesta at det var snakk om ei øy av U.S. Antarctic Service (USAS), 1939-1941, som tok bilete av ho og kartla ho grovt frå lufta. Ho vart kartlagd i detalj frå flyfoto teken under Ronne antarktiske forskingsekspedisjon (RARE), 1947-1948, av Searle frå Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) i 1960, og frå satelittbilete frå 1974.
