Soknedal er ein tidlegare sjølvstendig kommune og ein tettstad i Trøndelag fylke. Tettstaden Soknedal har 310 innbyggjarar per 1. januar 2017.


Soknedal var frå 1837 ein del av Støren formannskapsdistrikt. I 1841 vart Soknedal og Horg skilde ut som sjølvstendige kommunar. Soknedal hadde då 1 966 innbyggjarar. 1. januar 1964 vart Soknedal slegen saman med Budal, Singsås og Støren til den nye Midtre Gauldal kommune. Ved samanslåinga hadde Soknedal 1 916 innbyggjarar.
