Frøplantar (Spermatophyta eller Phanerogamae) er ei plantesystematisk avdeling av plantar som set frø, i motsetnad til sporeplantar som formeirer seg med sporar. Dette er den største gruppa av nolevande plantar, med over 260 000 nolevande artar.[1]





Karplantar inndelt i frøplantar og andre grupper.


I botanikken har ein lenge delt frøplantane inn i dekkfrøa plantar (Magnoliophyta) og nakenfrøingar (Gymnospermae), som omfattar divisjonane Pinophyta (bartre), Cycadophyta (konglepalmar), Ginkgophyta (gingko) og Gnetophyta. Dei største familiane er marihand- og korgplantefamilien.


Dei eldste frøplantane ein har fossil frå er gruppa Pteridospermatophyta, desse er frå sein devontid.[2]
