Eit svensk vedgassgenerator i 1944


Vedgass er eit drivstoff i gassform framstllt av knott eller trekol, som er trevirke eller avfall frå trevirke, kappa opp i småbitar. Vedgassen vert utvunnen ved ufyllstendig forbrenning av knott eller trekol. Gassen inneheld stort sett karbonmonoksid, karbondioksid, hydrogen og metan, og er giftig. Vedgassen inneheld tjere og andre ureiheiter og må reinskast før han kan nyttast som drivstoff i forbrenningsmotorar.


Under 2. verdskrig var det svært dårleg tilgang på flytande fossilt drivstoff og vedgass vart ei viktig erstattning for anna drivstoff. På grunn av at gass har stort volum vart han produsert på køyretøyet i ein vedgassgenerator.
