Texas er ein delstat sørvest i USA, med grense til Mexico. Han er den nest største delstaten i landet, både i folkemengd og flatevidd. Austin er hovudstad medan Houston er den største byen i Texas.



Historie |


Texas var ein meksikansk delstat fram til 1836, då han erklærte sjølvstende. Etter fleire kampar blei Republikken Texas til. Han blei annektert av USA i 1845 og stykka opp i 1850, då ein tredel av staten blei delt ut til dagens Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma og Wyoming, lausreiv seg frå USA igjen etter eit val i 1861, som del av den amerikanske borgarkrigen, og blei teken inn igjen i 1870.
