Animisme


Animisme (av latinsk anima, som tyder sjel) er eit omgrep som viser til ei religiøs oppfatning om at alle ting i naturen, både levande og ikkje levande har eller kan ha ei sjel. Tru på at det finst ei ånd i kvart tre eller i ein innsjø (til dømes nøkken) er døme på animisme.


Omgrepet blir også brukt som eit samleomgrep for sokalla «primitive», «innfødte» eller «stamme» -religionar.[1]



Etymologi |


I Oxford English Dictionary (OED) blir opphavet til termen tilskrive Stahl som i 1720 skreiv om anima mundi, men sjølve ordet vart ikkje teke i bruk før på 1800-talet. I følgje OED i 1832.[2]


I sosialantropologi vart termen teken i bruk av den britiske antropologen Edward Burnett Tylor som tok det i bruk i boka Primitive Culture.[2][1]


Animisme er nært i slekt med panteisme.
